There is a part of the self that keeps records. Not the recent ones. The old ones. Every slight, every disappointment, every moment a relationship turned out to be different from what was expected. It does this whether or not the conscious mind has agreed to it. It does this whether or not the work of forgetting has been done.

This is a memoir written from inside that fact. About what happens when the records cannot be burned, cannot be reasoned with, cannot be transcended through any of the practices that promised they could be. About what it means to stop trying to remove the part of yourself that has been keeping these records, and to begin living alongside it.
